12 Tips for Parent Kids about Sex Education
You've just found out your son or daughter is getting sex education at public school and you want to give them the Islamic perspective on it.
Or your kids have started asking the “where do babies come from” question.
But you just can't get over your tongue-tying embarrassment. Imagine! If your father or mother, back in Cairo or Karachi, heard of this they'd be stunned and question your parenting skills!
Here are some tips that can help you talk to your kids about the “s” word.
Tip #1: Start Early
Ideally sex education is not provided to kids in a reactionary fashion. Rather, it's given from the beginning in an indirect manner.
This means the child has to have a strong sense of identity and an understanding of what his or her values are.
“Parents are going to have sit down and explain their values to their own children. And this needs to start young, before the society influences them,” says Marilyn Morris, a Christian, who is president and founder of Aim for Success. The organization promotes abstinence from sex through speeches and presentations to students in grades six to 12. The group is one of the largest providers of abstinence education in the United States.
She says it is also important to explain to kids why you hold those values. For example, why do you not approve of sex outside of marriage, whether this is for religious and/or health reasons.
Tip #2: Give the child age-appropriate sex education
Starting to teach different topics at the right age is also important.
For example, a boy of eight may notice his mom does not pray some time during the month and may ask why. At this point, it can simply be said this is a time when Allah has excused women from praying. At the age of 12 or 13, a parent can introduce the topic of menstruation, and by that point, he will be able to make the connection.
Another way topics of a sexual nature can be introduced is while the child is reading the Quran. When the child reads verses about sexual intercourse, menstruation, or homosexuality, for example, this can be explained in a matter-of-fact manner.
Sex can also be discussed in the context of cleanliness in Islam at a certain age. For example, by the age of six or seven, a child must know how to clean him or herself after using the toilet.
After this at about eleven or twelve, the issue of Ghusl can be raised and when it is necessary (i.e. after sexual intercourse, after menstruation, etc).
As well, parents should sit with their children individually, not all together to explain various age-appropriate topics related to sex.
Some of the topics to talk about include modesty, decency, conduct and behavior .
But these should not be presented as just a bunch of rules to be followed. Rather the wisdom behind, for example, the Islamic dress code and lowering the gaze for both sexes should be explained.
Tip #3: Parents should build a good relationship with their kids
Proper sex education can only be given if the correct messages are being sent explicitly and implicitly by parents.
There has to be openness, not a rigid and dogmatic atmosphere at home.
“I'm talking about a loving relationship at home between the parents,” says Khadija Haffajee an Islamic activist and a retired school teacher from the Ottawa-Carleton region of Canada. She has spent about 30 years working in the public school system. “That there's love between the parents, there's affection. They [the kids] can see this, how they talk to each other, the respect that's there.”
Tip #4: Be an example
This goes hand in hand with being a role model, which is the best way to teach and transmit values to children.
That means not only should children be exposed to a healthy male-female relationship when they see their parents. It also means parents do not engage in activities which undermine their views on sexuality.
For instance, “being careful themselves about what they watch on T.V. or what movies they go to see, “ is crucial says Morris “because that ‘s a bad influence on us at any age. And if our children see us doing it why shouldn't they as well?”
This also means setting an example in other aspects of life by following the same rules you expect your kids to follow. For example, if you're running late, call children and let them know, show them the same courtesy you expect from them, explains Morris.
Tip #5: Meet with others who share your values
It is necessary for children to not just see the embodiment of Islamic values at home. They must also experience this in contacts with other Muslim children and families, says Haffajee.
They must see that family life the Islamic way is not just something their own family practices, but it's something others do as well.
This makes it more “normal” for the child, who in public school may have friends or acquaintances with homosexual parents (two mommies or two daddies), parents who are having sex outside of marriage (mom's boyfriend, dad's girlfriend) or other types of unacceptable relationships.
Tip #6: Get involved with your children's school
Depending on a parent's schedule, this can mean different things. Most of the time, public schools encourage parents' active participation through channels like Parent and Teachers' Associations (PTAs) or as elected school board members.
Haffajee explains that more and more schools will be decentralized and will have more power at the PTA level, for instance. Another forum for involvement is running in school board elections. School boards run all the schools in one district.
But if this is too much of a commitment for you as a parent, at least be in contact with your child's teacher, and let her/him know not just about problems, but good things he or she is doing for your child as well.
”We have to build these links, not feel it's them and us,” adds Haffajee.
Volunteering and helping at the school is also an option. This differs in each school. Some may have a lunchroom program with parents as monitors, for instance, which requires only a few hours a week.
Regular participation in such school organizations and activities gives you a voice as a parent to express your views about what's going on in the school system as it affects your child, as well as others' children.
It is important to add that this involvement should not come only when the school has done something you, as a parent, feel has violated your child's needs as a Muslim, or when you want something specifically for your child (i.e. time off for Eid, Juma, etc.).
By participating at the long-term level, your voice is more likely to be heard because you're involved in making the school better generally, not just for your child's interest only.
When it comes time for sex education, you can band together with other parents, Muslim and non-Muslim, who share the same views on the topic, and it is more likely you will be listened to.
“There are a lot of non-Muslim parents who are concerned about these issues and feel as if there is no control,” notes Haffajee.
Tip #7: Know the sex education territory
“There should be talk about what kind of information they're getting, preadolescent education,” says Haffajee.
Launching a three hour tirade against the evils of public school sex education will do little good in helping your son or daughter see what's wrong with it. This is why it is necessary to find out what is included in the sex education curriculum.
“They should find out exactly what the school is teaching, to the point of even sitting with the person doing the education and finding out about the values of that person,” says Morris. “This is a very important issue”
Tip #8: Know the Islamic perspective on sex
There is more to sex education than telling your son or daughter “don't do it until you get married”.
Topics like menstruation, sexual changes in adolescents, Islamic purity after various types of uncleanliness associated with sex also have to be discussed.
If you're not sure, get some help from a knowledgeable Muslim or Imam, as well as a guide for parents (see the review for the book Miracle Of Life.
Be capable of providing exact references from the Quran, Sunnah and valid Islamic authorities on relevant topics (i.e. birth control, boy/girl relationships, etc.).
On the same note, if in the course of your conversation your child asks you something and you are not sure about whether it really is Islamic or not, CHECK IT OUT. Assuming that a cultural practice relating to sex or boy/girl relationships is automatically Islamic is a mistake.
Tip #9: Tell your kids you're available to talk to them about sex
This is necessary, especially if sex has been a taboo subject in the household for so long.
“Parents [should] say to their children “I want to be your primary source of information about sex,” says Morris.
This makes it clear that while your child may be getting information about sex from other sources like television, the movies, school and friends, you are the “authoritative source”.
This is done best when discussed at a younger age, rather than waiting for the teen years when rebelliousness usually kicks in and kids are less likely to listen to parents.
Tip #10: Express your nervousness
It will be hard to talk about sex for many parents. But they should not hide this from their kids.
Morris recommends parents say, “If I sound nervous or uncomfortable just bear with me,” in the course of their conversation.
This stresses the seriousness of the topic and the importance of what you want to say. The fact that this is so difficult for you, yet you are going forward with it emphasizes your child's need to listen.
Tip #11: Withdraw your child from sex education but tell them why
There are public schools where sex education is an option, and a child can be exempted from it.
Haffajee says there are parents, Muslim and non-Muslim who have decided to choose this instead of having their kids sit through public school sex education.
But if you do decide to do this, she advises it is important to clearly explain to your child why this is being done, and to ensure that s/he is being provided with Islamic sex education in the home.
Otherwise, your child may see it as being excluded from an activity with his or her friends.
Tip #12: Get help from others
If you feel extremely uncomfortable talking to your kids about it, enlist the help of a knowledgeable and open Imam or community member who is of the same gender as your child, to explain the details and provide the guidance.
Other people can be Islamic weekend school teachers, a Muslim social worker, or a trusted family member like an aunt, uncle or cousin.
Also, get some books for your kids that discuss sex from an Islamic perspective. Miracle of Life or Ahmad Sakr's The Adolescent Life are some examples.
However, getting someone else to talk to them or giving them a book is not the end of the story. As a parent, you have to be ready and open to at least hear Ameer or Jamila's concerns or questions about sex, so you can direct them to the right person or information if you are uncomfortable answering yourself.

12 Tips Islamic Business Contract- a Detailed Study
Basic Shariah Principles or Fiqh-al-Muamalat of the Islamic Business Contracts
Broad-based economic well-being, social and economic justice, and equitable distribution of income and wealth is the primary objective of Islamic economics. The intense commitment of Islam to brotherhood and justice makes the well-being or 'falah' of all human beings the principal goal of Islam. To achieve falah, Islamic economics and banking has developed different Islamic investment products.
Forbidden Elements in Contract :
Among the most important teachings of Islam for establishing justice and eliminating exploitation in business transactions is the prohibition of all sources of unjustified enrichment. Three aspects of forbidden elements in contracts which may induce people for unjustified enrichment are : Riba, Gharar and Maysir.
(a) Riba or Interest :
Riba or interest is completely prohibited under Islamic law. Riba is a prominent source of unjustified advantage, because Shariah does not consider money as a commodity such that there should be a price for its use. Money is a medium of exchange in an asset oriented economy, and a store of value. However, the term riba or interest is used in the Shariah in two senses, riba-an-nasiah and riba-al-fadl. Riba-an-nasiah refers to the time allowed to the borrower to repay the loan in return for addition (financial increment) (nasiah is related to the verb nasa'a, meaning to postpone, defer or wait). It makes no difference whether the return is a fixed or a variable percentage of the principal, an absolute amount to be paid in advance or on maturity, or a gift or service to be received as a condition for the loan. This leaves no room for arguing that riba refers to usury and not interest. Riba-al-fadl, on the otherhand, is related with the transactions of the homogeneous goods. Riba-al-fadl arises if gold, silver, wheat, barley, dates and salt are exchanged against themselves with unequal proportion. That is, they should be exchanged on the spot and be equal and alike, otherwise any change in transactions will create riba-al-fadl. However, the absolute prohibition of riba or interest in the Quran and Hadith is a command to establish an economic system from which all forms of exploitation are eliminated, in particular, the injustice of the financier being assured of a positive return without doing any work or sharing in the risk, while the entrepreneur, in spite of his management and hard work, is not assured of such a positive return. The prohibition of interest is, therefore, a way to establish justice between the financier and entrepreneur.
(b) Gharar or Dubiousness in Contract :
The Shariah determined that in the interest of fair and transparent dealing in the contracts between the parties, any unjustified enrichment arises out of uncertainty or undefined of the essential pillars of contract is prohibited. Gharar is originated out of deception through ignorance by one or more parties to a contract. Gambling is also a form of gharar because the gambler is ignorant of the result of the gamble. There are several types of gharar, all of which are haram. The following are some examples:
i. Selling goods that the seller is unable to deliver ;
ii. Selling known or unknown goods against an unknown price, such as selling the contents of a sealed box ;
iii. Selling goods without proper description, such as shop owner selling clothes with unspecified sizes ;
iv. Selling goods without specifying the price, such as selling at the 'going price' ;
v. Making a contract conditional on an unknown event, such as when my friend arrives if the time is not specified ;
vi. Selling goods on the basis of false description ; and
vii. Selling goods without allowing the buyer to properly examine the goods.
In order to avoid gharar, the contracting parties must (i) ascertain that both the subject and prices of the sale exist, and are able to be delivered ; (ii) specify the characteristics and amounts of the counter values ; (iii) define the quantity, quality and date of future delivery, if any.
(c) Maysir or Gambling
The prohibition of maysir arises from the premise that an apparent agreement between the parties is in actually the result of immoral inducement provided by false hopes in the parties mind that they will profit unduly by the contract.
The Nature of the Forbidden Contracts
A number of barter arrangements peculiar to pre-Islamic market trading was expressly forbidden by the Prophet Muhammad (salla-llahu alaihi wa sallam). The characteristic they have in common is that they depend on conjectured or uncertain definition of the goods being traded. It is from the explicit prohibition of such barter arrangements that Islamic law developed its strict rules about definition of the objects (and terms) of contract. Examples of forbidden contracts are :
Muzabana : The exchange of fresh fruits for dry such that the quantity of the dry fruit is measured and fixed but the quantity of the fresh to be given in exchange is estimated while still on the trees.
Muhaqalah : The sale of grains still growing (that is, unharvested) in exchange for an equal quantity of harvested grains. ( The prohibition of this particular transaction is an important element in the general discussion of gharar (uncertainty), the basis of the prohibition of futures trading in grain and other foodstuff and stock commodities).
Mulamasah : An historic sales contract in which the sale was finalised with the buyer or seller touching a piece of cloth.
Munabudhah : An historic sales contract in which the sale was finalised with the buyer or seller throwing a piece of cloth towards the other.
Basic Shariah Principles of Business Contracts
While the nature of all the forms of business contracts are different from each other, the basic principles of the Shariah with regard to them are almost similar. These basic principles are as follows :
(1) The terms and conditions of a contract of joint venture should be so designed as to avoid any possibility of dispute during the conduct of business or at the time of sharing the profits or bearing the loss.
(2) Business capital should be in the form of money. If any or some of the partners are joining with their running business or commodity or property the value of their business, commodity or property should be determined in terms of money and this amount should be treated as the partners' contribution.
(3) In a partnership the relationship between the partners is that of a principal and agent. In joint stock companies the shareholders are only the co-owners without enjoying agency rights.
(4) Capital and labour and in some cases goodwill and credit-worthiness are jointly responsible for creating profits and are jointly responsible to a share in the profits. In case only one single factor is responsible for creating profits it will solely be eligible to it.
(5) The rights and duties of the partners depend on the nature of the joint business and are largely governed by the custom, convention and usage. In this respect the interest of the business is the most important criterion of determining the rights and duties of the partners.
(6) Rights are concomitant to responsibilities. Thus a dormant partner may be disallowed to bind the firm by his commitments. The partners would not claim any fixed return for their work except a share in profits, but the employees would receive their wages from the business account.
(7) In a joint business, productivity and profit are measured on the basis of invested capital. But it is labour that contributes to productivity and profit. Thus the proportion of partners respective shares in capital alone cannot be a factor of determining the respective shares of the partners in the profits of the business. The proportion of profits cannot, therefore, necessarily be commensurate with the share in capital. The partner with a higher contribution of labour may be allowed a higher share in profits although his capital contribution may be lesser than others.
(8) Loss is incurred in case capital fails to grow and diminishes. Thus in the event of a loss non-payment of profits to working partners amounts to loss of labour. Loss in capital is exclusively to be borne by capital. In this way while the profit may be distributed according to the stipulated condition loss is to be borne by partners proportionately with their respective shares in business capital.
(9) The basic principle is that profits go with liability. Thus a partner who is ready to bear a liability would share in profits also. Persons joining the business to take a share only in profits without contributing anything to business and without accepting any liability are not eligible to profits as a matter of right.
(10) Profits are concomitant to risk. No partner has a right to set apart a fixed portion of profits, thus ensuring for himself a sure return. If profits arise all partners would share in it proportionately. If there are no profits no partner would be privileged to take any share by way of his exclusive right.
(11) Loss arising out of wilful negligence would be indemnified by the partner who is responsible for it.
(12) The liability of the partners would depend on the nature of the joint venture.

Surah Al Nasr (Tafsir Ibn Kashir)
The Virtues of Surah An-Nasr
It has been mentioned previously that
- it (Surah An-Nasr) is equivalent to one-fourth of the Qur'an and that
- Surah Az-Zalzalah is equivalent to one-fourth of the Qur'an.
An-Nasa'i recorded from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah that Ibn Abbas said to him,
"O Ibn `Utbah! Do you know the last Surah of the Qur'an that was revealed''
He answered,
"Yes,
When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest. (110:1)''
He (Ibn Abbas) said, "You have spoken truthfully.''
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
110.1 When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest.
110.2 And you see that the people enter Allah's religion in crowds.
110.3 So, glorify the praises of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives.
This Surah informs of the Completion of the Life of Allah's Messenger
Al-Bukhari recorded from Ibn Abbas that he said, "Umar used to bring me into the gatherings with the old men of (the battle of) Badr. However, it was as if one of them felt something in himself (against my attending). So he said,
`Why do you (`Umar) bring this (youth) to sit with us when we have children like him (i.e., his age)'
So `Umar replied, `Verily, he is among those whom you know.`
Then one day he called them and invited me to sit with them, and I do not think that he invited me to be among them that day except to show them. So he said,
`What do you say about Allah's statement, (When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest.)'
Some of them said,
`We were commanded to praise Allah and seek His forgiveness when He helps us and gives us victory.'
Some of them remained silent and did not say anything.
Then he (Umar) said to me, `Is this what you say, O Ibn `Abbas'
I said, `No.'
He then said, `What do you say'
I said,
`It was the end of the life of Allah's Messenger that Allah was informing him of.
Allah said,
When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest.
which means, that is a sign of the end of your life.
So, glorify the praises of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives.'
So, Umar bin Al-Khattab said,
`I do not know anything about it other than what you have said.'''
Al-Bukhari was alone in recording this Hadith.
Imam Ahmad recorded from Ibn Abbas that he said,
"When إِذَا جَآءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ (When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest.) was revealed, the Messenger of Allah said, نُعِيَتْ إِلَيَّ نَفْسِي My death has been announced to me. And indeed he died during that year.''
Ahmad was alone in recording this Hadith.
Al-Bukhari recorded that Aishah said,
"The Messenger of Allah used to say often in his bowing and prostrating, سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَبِحَمْدِكَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي (Glory to You, O Allah, our Lord, and praise be to You. O Allah, forgive me.) He did this as his interpretation of the Qur'an (i.e., showing its implementation).''
The rest of the group has also recorded this Hadith except for At-Tirmidhi.
Imam Ahmad recorded from Masruq that Aishah said,
"The Messenger of Allah used to often say towards the end of his life, سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْه Glory to Allah, and praise be unto Him. I seek Allah's forgiveness and I repent to Him.
And he said,
Verily, my Lord has informed me that I will see a sign in my Ummah and He has commanded me that when I see it, I should glorify His praises and seek His forgiveness, for He is the One Who accepts repentance. And indeed I have seen it (i.e., the sign.
When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest (Al-Fath).
And you see that the people enter Allah's religion in crowds.
So glorify the praises of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives.''
Muslim also recorded this Hadith.
The meaning of Al-Fath here is the conquest of Makkah, and there is only one view concerning it. For indeed the different areas of the Arabs were waiting for the conquest of Makkah before they would accept Islam. They said,
"If he (Muhammad is victorious over his people, then he is a (true) Prophet.''
So when Allah gave him victory over Makkah, they entered into the religion of Allah (Islam) in crowds. Thus, two years did not pass (after the conquest of Makkah) before the peninsula of the Arabs was laden with faith. And there did not remain any of the tribes of the Arabs except that they professed (their acceptance) of Islam. And all praise and blessings are due to Allah.
Al-Bukhari recorded in his Sahih that `Amr bin Salamah said,
"When Makkah was conquered, all of the people rushed to the Messenger of Allah to profess their Islam. The various regions were delaying their acceptance of Islam until Makkah was conquered. The people used to say,
`Leave him and his people alone. If he is victorious over them he is a (true) Prophet.'''
We have researched the war expedition for conquest of Makkah in our book As-Surah. Therefore, whoever wishes he may review it there.
And all praise and blessings are due to Allah. Imam Ahmad recorded from Abu `Ammar that a neighbor of Jabir bin `Abdullah told him,
"I returned from a journey and Jabir bin `Abdullah came and greeted me. So I began to talk with him about the divisions among the people and what they had started doing. Thus, Jabir began to cry and he said, `I heard the Messenger of Allah saying,
Verily, the people have entered into the religion of Allah in crowds and they will also leave it in crowds.''
This is the end of the Tafsir of Surah An-Nasr, and all praise and blessings are due to Allah.

How the Google Nexus One Stacks Up
Does the so-called "Google Phone" measure up against the iPhone, Droid, and other leading smartphones?
by Sean Ludwig
Tuesday's announcement of the Google Nexus One smartphone wasn't a shocker, but the phone itself has some great new features and is in a good position to become the top Android device just months after the Motorola Droid took over that spot. The Nexus One's specs are appealing, with a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, an amazing screen that is similar to the Droid's, and a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. Google's Nexus One is also the first device to run Android 2.1 software, which adds features like new home screen panels and interactive wallpaper.
So how does the Nexus One measure up to the other big-name smartphones out there? We'll compare the Nexus One to the Motorola Droid, Apple iPhone 3GS, Motorola CLIQ, and the Palm Pre, four of the highest-rated and most-buzzed about smartphones of the last year. We'll show how the Nexus One's specs compare in terms of network, OS, display, processor, and camera. Of course, final judgments will have to wait until we've had a chance to test the unit.
Network
The Nexus One can be purchased on contract from T-Mobile immediately and will be available for Verizon Wireless in the spring. This is the first time such a heavyweight smartphone has been offered on two simultaneous U.S. networks so quickly, and it's a peculiar (and welcome) example of choice for the consumer. The Nexus One can also be purchased unlocked, and you can use a T-Mobile or AT&T SIM card to get service. (Keep in mind, however, that because of supported frequency bands, unlocked Nexus Ones will be compatible with T-Mobile's 3G network, but not AT&T's.) While T-Mobile had its share of publicity problems in 2009, the service is known for good pricing and customer service. T-Mobile is going to be the first with HSPA+ data, so CLIQ and Nexus One owners who can get 3G service from the carrier should be able to enjoy noticeably faster data speeds before other carriers.
By comparison, the iPhone's biggest problem is arguably that it's only on AT&T, which has a reputation for dropped calls and unreliable service. The Pre is on Sprint, which continues to be a fairly reliable option for 3G service and coverage. The Droid has the advantage of being tied exclusively to Verizon—a feather in its cap because of Verizon's trustworthy service. When it comes to the network, Google's Nexus One trails the Droid at the moment, but when it adds Verizon in the spring, the Nexus One looks set to have the most attractive options.
Operating System
The Nexus One has a real edge when it comes to the OS. Android 2.1 is, not surprisingly, better than the Motorola Droid's Android 2.0. And it's light years ahead of the Motorola CLIQ's Android 1.5, which feels dated even with its MotoBlur extras.
As for whether Android 2.1 is better than the iPhone's 3.1 OS, that's a matter of personal preference. Each has its own feel—Android more customizable, iPhone more streamlined. Two of the biggest differences are that Android can run several third-party apps simultaneously—not the iPhone. Android also allows for more customization of home screens than the iPhone. On the other side, the latest iPhone OS has an onboard video editor and a simpler-to-use interface.
Palm's webOS is another beast altogether. Its innovative and fun interface features "cards", where each program is a card you can pull out, cycle through, and discard as needed. Plus, you can run multiple apps simultaneously. Sadly, Palm's Pre isn't powerful enough to fully realize webOS without bits of sluggishness, especially with multiple apps running.
Display
The Nexus One has a 3.7-inch, 480-by-800-pixel AMOLED display. The Droid has a similar 3.7-inch 480-by-854-pixel touch screen, but it won't be quite as vibrant because it's not AMOLED. We absolutely love the Droid's screen, so we'll give the Nexus One equal billing because they are comparable. The iPhone's bright 3.5-inch, 320-by-480-pixel screen is good, but not Droid or Nexus One good. The CLIQ and Pre's 3.1-inch, 320-by-480-pixel touch screens are just a little too small for comfort, especially when compared to their smartphone competitors. The Nexus One ties the Droid when it comes to screen specs, until we have to time test the units side-by-side.
Processor
Being Google must have some serious perks. The Nexus One is only the second smartphone, after the HTC HD2, to be equipped with the powerful 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, the fastest processor yet to run on a phone. Most analysts have noted that the processor makes a big difference and makes Android run very smoothly. The Droid runs well too, but its ARM Cortex-A8 is now a generation behind. The iPhone and Pre both run ARM Cortex-A8 processors as well, so count them slightly behind the curve now too. And the CLIQ's 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7201A processor, which is responsible for its occasional sluggishness, is now two generations behind. The Nexus One is the clear winner when it comes to processor specs.
Camera
The Nexus One features a 5-megapixel camera with a LED flash and can capture video at 720-by-480 pixels at a minimum of 20 frames per second. The Droid has a 5-megapixel camera with flash and can take videos at the same resolution with 25 frames per second. The iPhone's 3-megapixel camera doesn't quite compare, but videos on the iPhone are 640 by 480 pixels and 30 frames per second, which are probably in the same class as the Nexus One and Droid. And the Pre's 3-megapixel camera works fine, but lacks in options and doesn't record video. The Droid has a slight edge in terms of camera specs—actual performance is another matter, of course. Stay tuned for our tests.

7 Tips To Improve Your Blog Rank
Improve blog ranking and marketing is no longer kids stuff. It’s beyond the sappy diary entries and angst fueled rants. It’s serious business, especially if your goal is to b>make money blogging for your business. Blog marketing is more powerful than static site marketing mainly because of all the options Web 2.0 offers. Below are some things you can do to take advantage of what web 2.0 has to offer to increase blog traffic, links and engine ranking.
1. Tag you’re it!
If you are not tagging your posts, start now. Tags make it easier for people to find your blog post, and video and photos that are related. You can write the most informative blog in your niche but if it can not be found it can not get read. Tag your posts.
2. Get exposed
Do you wonder how some large news and content sites deliver their headlines? Syndicate with RSS. While using the feed that comes with your blog may seem like an ok option, using a custom feed, that specifically separates keyword groups for content you develop frequently, is a far better option. Syndicating with RSS increases your exposure. Pheedpress, available from Content Desk is a great tool for this.
3. Forget me not
Social Bookmarking allows users to save and categorize a personal collection of bookmarks and share them with others. Users may also take bookmarks saved by others and add them to their own collection, as well as to subscribe to the lists of others.
Bookmarking is an easy way to improve blog ranking and get traffic; the more you do it the more you’ll be noticed. Ideally, your site should be bookmarked somewhere in all the major bookmarking engines. But having your entire site booked in just a few can greatly increase blog traffic.
4. Get involved
Much like the tip above, adding comments is a great way to sprinkle your links around. Note however, your comment must be informative and relate to the original post. Bloggers will grant your trackbacks when your comments are on topic and useful.
5. Digging for treasure
Digg.com and Digg-like sites take stories from users and post them on the site. Users then vote on them and decide which get dugg and which are buried. If you are dugg it can result in a flood of traffic.
6. Get connected
Social networks like Myspace can be found in virtually everywhere corner of the web. They are great places to meet like minded people and above all receive valuable links from.
Article syndication is still one of the most popular ways to get links. Well-written content that serves the reader first then your business will receive rewards. This is the type of content that is read, passed on, and linked to. Writing content gives you links as well as branding you as an authority figure in your niche.
Publishing on a blog platform gives you the opportunity to reach a greater quantity of people faster than a static site. Use the above tips to take full advantage of all the rewards blogging can have on your business and to be able to make money blogging.
Take care

Al Masad (Tafsir Ibn Kashir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
111:1 Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he!
111:2 His wealth and his children will not benefit him!
111:3 He will enter a Fire full of flames!
111:4 And his wife too, who carries wood.
111:5 In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad.
The Reason for the Revelation of this Surah and the Arrogance of Abu Lahab toward the Messenger of Allah
Al-Bukhari recorded from Ibn Abbas that;
The Prophet went out to the valley of Al-Batha and he ascended the mountain. Then he cried out, يَا صَبَاحَاه O people, come at once! So the Quraysh gathered around him. Then he said,
If I told you all that the enemy was going to attack you in the morning, or in the evening, would you all believe me?
They replied, "Yes.''
Then he said,
Verily, I am a warner (sent) to you all before the coming of a severe torment.
Then Abu Lahab said,
"Have you gathered us for this! May you perish!''
Thus, Allah revealed,
Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he! to the end of the Surah.
In another narration it states that he stood up dusting of his hands and said,
"Perish you for the rest of this day! Have you gathered us for this''
Then Allah revealed,
The first part is a supplication against him and the second is information about him.
This man Abu Lahab was one of the uncles of the Messenger of Allah. His name was Abdul-Uzza bin Abdul-Muttalib. His surname was Abu Utaybah and he was only called Abu Lahab because of the brightness of his face. He used to often cause harm to the Messenger of Allah. He hated and scorned him and his religion.
Imam Ahmad recorded from Abu Az-Zinad that;
a man called Rabi`ah bin Abbad from the tribe of Bani Ad-Dil, who was a man of pre-Islamic ignorance who accepted Islam, said to him, "I saw the Prophet in the time of pre-Islamic ignorance in the market of Dhul-Majaz and he was saying,
O people! Say there is no god worthy of worship except Allah and you will be successful.
The people were gathered around him and behind him there was a man with a bright face, squint (or cross) eyes and two braids in his hair. He was saying,
"Verily, he is an apostate (from our religion) and a liar!''
This man was following him (the Prophet) around wherever he went. So, I asked who was he and they (the people) said,
"This is his uncle, Abu Lahab.''
Ahmad also recorded this narration from Surayj, who reported it from Ibn Abu Az-Zinad, who reported it from his father (Abu Zinad) who mentioned this same narration.
However in this report, Abu Zinad said,
"I said to Rabi`ah, `Were you a child at that time!'
He replied,
`No. By Allah, that day I was most intelligent, and I was the strongest blower of the flute (for music).'''
Ahmad was alone in recording this Hadith.
Concerning Allah's statement,
His wealth and his children (Kasab) will not benefit him!
Ibn Abbas and others have said, وَمَا كَسَبَ and his children (Kasab) will not benefit him!
"Kasab means his children.''
A similar statement has been reported from Aishah, Mujahid, Ata', Al-Hasan and Ibn Sirin.
It has been mentioned from Ibn Masud that when the Messenger of Allah called his people to faith, Abu Lahab said,
"Even if what my nephew says is true, I will ransom myself (i.e., save myself) from the painful torment on the Day of Judgement with my wealth and my children.''
(His wealth and his children will not benefit him!)
Then Allah says,
He will enter a Fire full of flames!
meaning, it has flames, evil and severe burning.
The Destiny of Umm Jamil, the Wife of Abu Lahab
Allah also says,
And his wife too, who carries wood.
His wife was among the leading women of the Quraysh and she was known as Umm Jamil. Her name was Arwah bint Harb bin Umayyah and she was the sister of Abu Sufyan. She was supportive of her husband in his disbelief, rejection and obstinacy. Therefore, she will be helping to administer his punishment in the fire of Hell on the Day of Judgement.
Thus, Allah says,
Who carries wood. In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad.
meaning, she will carry the firewood and throw it upon her husband to increase that which he is in (of torment), and she will be ready and prepared to do so.
In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad. Mujahid and Urwah both said,
"From the palm fiber of the Fire.''
Al-Awfi narrated from Ibn Abbas, Atiyah Al-Jadali, Ad-Dahhak and Ibn Zayd that;
she used to place thorns in the path of the Messenger of Allah.
Al-Jawhari said,
"Al-Masad refers to fibers, it is also a rope made from fibers or palm leaves.
It is also made from the skins of camels or their furs.
It is said (in Arabic) Masadtul-Habla and Amsaduhu Masadan, when you tightly fasten its twine.''
In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad.
"This means a collar of iron.''
Don't you see that the Arabs call a pulley cable a Masad.
A Story of Abu Lahab's Wife harming the Messenger of Allah
Ibn Abi Hatim said that his father and Abu Zurah both said that Abdullah bin Az-Zubayr Al-Humaydi told them that Sufyan informed them that Al-Walid bin Kathir related from Ibn Tadrus who reported that Asma' bint Abi Bakr said,
"When تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ (Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he!) was revealed, the one-eyed Umm Jamil bint Harb came out wailing, and she had a stone in her hand. She was saying,
`He criticizes our father, and his religion is our scorn, and his command is to disobey us.'
The Messenger of Allah was sitting in the Masjid (of the Ka`bah) and Abu Bakr was with him. When Abu Bakr saw her he said,
`O Messenger of Allah! She is coming and I fear that she will see you.'
The Messenger of Allah replied, Verily, she will not see me.
Then he recited some of the Qur'an as a protection for himself.
This is as Allah says,
And when you recite the Qur'an, We put between you and those who believe not in the Hereafter, an invisible veil. (17:45)
So she advanced until she was standing in front of Abu Bakr and she did not see the Messenger of Allah.
She then said,
`O Abu Bakr! Verily, I have been informed that your friend is making defamatory poetry about me.'
Abu Bakr replied,
`Nay! By the Lord of this House (the Ka`bah) he is not defaming you.'
So she turned away saying,
`Indeed the Quraysh know that I am the daughter of their leader.'''
Al-Walid or another person said in a different version of this Hadith,
"So Umm Jamil stumbled over her waist gown while she was making circuits (Tawaf) around the House (the Ka`bah) and she said,
`Cursed be the reviler.'
Then Umm Hakim bint Abdul-Muttalib said,
`I am a chaste woman so I will not speak abusively and I am refined so I do not know. Both of us are children of the same uncle. And after all the Quraysh know best.''
This is the end of the Tafsir of Surah Masad, and all praise and blessings are due to Allah.

PPC ADVERTISING: HOW TO MAKE YOUR BUSINESS “CLICK”
PPC stands for Pay Per Click – a popular advertising technique on the Internet. Found on websites, advertising networks, and especially on search engines, PPC advertising involves sponsored links that are typically in the form of text ads. These are usually placed close to search results, where an advertiser pays a particular amount to visitors who click on these links or banners and land on the advertiser’s web page.
In essence, PPC advertising is all about bidding for the top or leading position on search engine results and listings. Advertisers do this by buying or bidding on keyword phrases that are relevant to their products or services – the higher the bid, the higher the spot on the search results, the more the people will find the ad (and click on it) to go to their websites (this is why some people call it “keyword auctioning”). Advertisers would then pay the bidding price every time a visitor clicks through the website.
PPC advertising is also known under the following names/variations:
· Pay per placement
· Pay per performance
· Pay per ranking
· Pay per position
· Cost per click (CPC)
PPC advertising is usually done with the following standard procedures:
1. Setting up an account and/or deposit funds.
2. Creating a keyword list.
3. Choosing (and setting up) an account with a PPC search engine.
4. Bidding on the ad placement, including the search result words or phrases.
5. Writing out an ad copy.
6. Setting up the ‘landing pages’ for your ads.
7. Placing the advertisement in the search engine.
There are many benefits to Pay Per Click advertising, making it an effective way of promoting a business ‘online’. Some of them are listed below:
· Get launched immediately. PPC advertisements are implemented very quickly – they can go ‘online’ within an hour after winning the bid and paying for it.
· Obtain specific, pre-qualified, and quality traffic. PPC provides you with a quality or a well-targeted traffic. Visitors are narrowed down into ‘qualified’ people who are actually looking for specific products and/or services that you offer – those who are more likely to become a ‘lead’ (a convert) and complete a transaction (either by buying your product or subscribing to the service that you are offering.
· Widen your reach. PPC advertising provides additional traffic to your site, aside from the natural or “organic” search engines.
· Track your investment. PPC advertising makes use of a tracking system that will determine exactly who comes to the website and what they do once they arrive – the length of their stay on the site and the number of pages (including the actual pages) that they view. These are valuable tools in determining statistics such as return on investment (ROI), acquisition cost-per-visitor, and conversion rates (the percentage of visitors who are converted into customers or leads).
Below are some important things to consider when planning on a pay per click campaign:
1. Know your product. Take an inventory of the product and/or services that you have to offer (before anything else).
2. Stay within the budget. Determine your daily or monthly budget; and stay with it. This means keeping your budget in mind, avoiding bidding wars if possible.
3. Bid just right. Know how to bid right – a bid that is too high can exhaust all of your money, while a bid that is too low can make you lose that spot.
4. Watch the bottom line. Measure your profit margin against your spending or expenses. Know when to stop and terminate your PPC program – if you spend more on advertising but have little or no sales at all.
5. Find the right keywords. Decide which keyword phrases to opt and bid for. Do some keyword research, either by actually looking at existing search terms or with the use of online keyword suggestion tools, to know which terms are mostly used when searching for items that are related to your business. Focus on specific keywords, not on general ones.
6. Write effective ads. A good PPC ad is that which can persuade and move a searcher. There are several approaches to this:
· Discount offers
· Testimonials
· Celebrity/famous endorsers
· Money-back guarantees
· Free trials or sample offers
· Freebies
· Reverse psychology
· Major benefits (“Lose weight”)
· Direct instructions (“Click here”)
7. Maintain a professional-looking site. Your web content should be regularly updated and checked for spelling and grammatical errors. There should be no broken links or images. The website should be simple – designed in such a way that it will be easy for visitors to navigate and load. Include contact details to create a good impression among potential customers.
Done properly, PPC advertising can be an effective marketing tool that will maximize the return on your investment.

What Is Forex Trading?
Forex trading or foreign exchange trading is a type of trading using the different currencies of the world. This type of trade takes place in the Forex market, known to be the largest market in the world. Over three trillion US dollars are being traded in the market on a daily basis. The forex market is also considered as the most liquid of the worlds many trading markets.
The forex or currency exchange market deals with the simultaneous selling or buying of different currencies in the world. It can be buying or selling a currency in exchange for another currency at an agreed rate. Trading in currencies usually takes place between two counterparts. It can be as simple as making a trade over the phone or through the electronic networks connected all over the world.
Forex trading, unlike trading on the stock market is not conducted by way of a central exchange. Trading of currencies usually takes place on the interbank market which operates like an over the counter market. There are instead main centers where currency trading operates. They are located in the cities of Sydney, London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, and New York. This distribution of trading centers that covers the important regions of the world makes it possible for currencies to be traded in the forex market for a 24-hour period.
Trading in different currencies usually takes place between two different currencies in the world. This combination is called more commonly a cross. Trading can be done between the US dollar and the British pound. It can also be between the Japanese yen or the US dollar. Currency trading can be done on any other combination of the various accepted currencies of the world.
Just like any other form of trade, forex or currency trading also has its own risks along with the rewards involved. Taking part in currency or forex trading may require some knowledge as well as experience in or to achieve gains. When compared to other forms of trading in the world, forex trading is considered to be one of the most volatile. Rates between different currencies can change quickly in a matter of minutes.
The chances of getting gains as well as the likelihood of losing money are similarly high. Timely decision making is important in this form of world trading. It might appeal to other traders who are looking for quick turnovers for their deals. This type of trading may not be suited for those people who are looking after a stable but steady means of investing their capital.
